I have been keeping a secret. And I'm not referring to my Mystery Doll pattern. I have another secret.
Way back at the beginning of this year, I designed a very special project to appear in the Festive 2012 issue of A Needle Pulling Thread magazine and I'm very excited to reveal them to you today!
When Santa went back up the chimney these little elves got left behind, scrambling for cover amid the branches of a Christmas tree. Santa’s little helpers got another nasty surprise when the cat knocked the Christmas tree and “Oops-a-daisy!” they almost fell off! Hanging on for dear life and frozen in place so no one will notice them, they look just like adorable Christmas decorations that Santa left behind. Only the cat knows better.
The Oops-a-Daisy Christmas tree elves will be appearing in the pages of a A Needle Pulling Thread when the Festive 2012 issue arrives on the newsstands in Canada and the US in October.
Sadly, A Needle Pulling Thread Magazine is not currently available on newsstand here in the UK. However, Blue Haze Arts & Crafts and I are coming to the rescue! UK residents can still make this trio of hapless elves in a class I'll be teaching in the cozy workshop space above Blue Haze in Chesham, Buckinghamshire on Saturday November 3rd - Sunday November 4th, 2012.
The class will guide you through making your own trio of 12" (30.5cm) cloth Christmas tree elves. Students will be supplied with three different face templates pre-printed directly onto fabric so that all you have to do is colour them in. So, if like many people, you find drawing faces intimidating, you can still make this trio of Christmas ornament elves that will delight your family and friends this holiday season.
This class is suitable for all levels of doll maker from beginners through to the more experienced, only the ability to use a sewing machine is required. You should leave the class with at least one elf completed and ready to take its place amidst your holiday decorations.
Want to know more about the Oops-a-Daisy Christmas Tree Ornament Elves class at Blue Haze? Click here for more details about the class and to sign up.
You can also reserve your place by calling Hazel at Blue Haze on tel: 01494 782030.
Just a warning though - Hazel at Blue Haze tells me there are only 2 places on this course left! So reserve your spot now.
Calling all Canucks - While Canadians can buy issues of A Needle Pulling Thread on newsstands or from their favourite needlework shops, those who prefer some hands-on tuition can also come to a two day course where I will be teaching the Oops-a-Daisy Christmas Tree Ornament Elves. I haven't ironed out all the details yet, but the course will be in Ingersoll, Ontario on November 17-18th, 2012. Stay tuned to the blog for more info or e-mail me if you just can't stand the suspense.

They are very cute! Never heard of this mag in Australia though :( will they be a pattern?

Colleen these dolls are absolutely adorable! I just loooove them. I will have to ask my nephews if they can find a copy of the magazine and post it to me. I also love the fact that these will look adorable in any type of fabric and prints.

Hi Bettina,
I'm so glad that you are enjoying my blog, but I'm sorry to hear you are having problems clicking on all the things you would like to see. I have checked the Link Within widget below each post (that is, the little pictures under the articles that take you to similar topics) and the "e-mail me" function under my bio photo and they all work for me in two different browsers (Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox). It sounds to me like you have security settings on your computer set up so that any pop-up windows will be blocked. All of those links work through a pop-up window.
In fact, you could actually have more than one pop-up blocker at a time all stopping you from seeing the content you want to see. For example, your internet browser might have one pop-up blocker and if you have something like a Yahoo or Google Toolbar, that could have an additional pop-up blocker. So you would need to disable all pop-up blockers.
One thing that sometimes works is to click on the link you want to see why holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard. However, that doesn't always work. If it doesn't, you'll need to disable the rest of your pop-up blockers, here is a link to an article that tells you how to disable most common pop-up blockers: https://host.softworks.ca/Agate3/blocker/disable-blockers.htm
I hope that helps,
Colleen

Hello Colleen,
I love your blog and come to visit a couple of times. The little pictures under your articles, which would connect me to similar topics do not work. Is there something wrong? Under your picture on the right side of your blog at the top i clicked on the e-mail-button, but it doesn't work.
Going to try your Mozart-Music-creativity-booster.
See your blog soon!
greetings from Germany
Bettina

Oh they are too sweet!! And what a great name Oops-a-Daisy Elves. That is what my mum always said when we tripped or had a minor conundrum was "oops-a-daisy". How wonderfully creative you are!!

They are great dolls. Ontario is a bit far for me to travel, though. I'm on the West Coast. I'll keep my eyes out for the magazine.
