Although I normally only make art dolls, I decided to try my hand at a doll that was just one step up from your average rag doll. And I decided to offer her as a free pattern and tutorial here on the Magic Bean!
L'il More Than Your Average Rag Doll (L'il for short) is a 20" (50.8cm) tall all cloth doll, suitable as a play doll for children aged 3 and over. With button eyes, yarn hair, her body is soft and cuddly.
And the step by step photo instructions not only include how to sew and make the doll's body it also includes how to make her little knickers, shoes and a completely reversible dress. The instructions also cover some great sewing tricks like using French seams and "stitching in the ditch", so this project is also a great opportunity to improve your sewing skills.
I hope the kids in your life will enjoy the magic of flipping that dress from one side to another as much as I hope you enjoy making this little cutie.
