The idea behind this challenge is to create a doll with a historical costuming element, mixed in with something unexpected to create a re-imagined past, present or future.
We have a fantastic collection of prizes on offer from our sponsors. Three of the four prize categories include the covetable DVD Cloth Doll Making with Patti Medaris Culea from Fine Arts and Crafts Film maker, Studio Galli.
I was lucky enough to have been given this DVD for my birthday this year. Even though I teach cloth doll making myself, own all of Patti's books and have taken classes with Patti in person, I still learned new techniques from this DVD.
If you don't have this DVD yet you have two choices:
1) Enter the challenge and win yourself a copy.
This challenge is specifically geared so that any doll maker, anywhere in the world, and with any level of ability can participate, there is a good chance that you could be the winner of one of the four prize packages worth over $100 USD each!
With 2 discs and almost 5 hours of instruction, plus the free bonus doll pattern that is included with the DVD, you won't be disappointed. If you really can't get to a doll class in person than this DVD is the next best thing. You can pause for tea breaks, replay bits you didn't quite get - it's like having Patti Culea in your living room!
And there is more big news from Studio Galli and Patti Culea - Patti's next cloth doll making DVD is in the midst of being filmed!
Cloth Doll Inspirations with Patti Medaris Culea goes beyond the fantastic DVD, "Cloth Doll Making", by offering a series of workshops around dressing and customizing doll patterns to suit your style, flair and individuality. Whether you are modifying a basic pattern, or working from an inspirational photograph or illustration, or inspired by old watch bits and grandma's lace -- this film is sure to leave you looking at cloth doll creations in a wholly new and personal way.
Filming in San Diego, California, May 2012 • Available Fall 2012.
Keep an eye on Studio Galli's You Tube channel for previews of Patti Culea's next DVD and remember to finish your Re-Imagine History Challenge doll in time for June 15th to be in with a chance to win the first DVD.
This week I had a wee "vacances" in Paris. That would be "holiday" if you don't speak French. Even if you don't speak French you can find a project below with a little French twist, that bit of "je ne sais quoi" that makes it extra special.

Scrapbooking is the craft that most often springs to mind when you think of preserving memories, but there are all sorts of other ways that you can remember special people and moments. Here are a few tutorials that I've found that allow you to display treasured photos and mementos in new and interesting ways. Many of these would make great gifts for Father's Day coming up in June.

Anna from My Life and Kids, guest blogged over at Mod Podge Rocks and shared a tutorial to make handprint canvases. Anna intended these to be for Mother's Day but they would be equally great for Father's Day. What's good for the goose and all that.
Another tutorial created with Mother's Day in mind, but great for any gift, a PVC pipe bud vase with photos, as created by David on Mod Podge Rocks.
Julia Sandvoss shared a tutorial on the Making Memories blog for creating a special reminder of your holidays in a jar. Don't you just wish you could bottle up some memories so you could have them forever - well now you can!
In celebration of our sponsors who are offering each of our winners over $100 US in prizes, I'm featuring each sponsor in turn ahead of the June 15th deadline for entries, starting with prizes offered by Eucalan. No matter where you are in the world you can participate in this challenge and win yourself some amazing goodies which includes a Custom Gift Pack of Eucalan products. The custom gift pack includes 4 x 100ml bottles of Eucalan No Rinse Delicate Wash plus handy travel size packages of Eucalan worth a total of $30.
And I have a fantastic free tutorial that will make sure that you'll enjoy your prize even after you've used up your Eucalan No Rinse Delicate Wash - a Bottled Lightning Bug Night Light made from an empty 100ml bottle of Eucalan.
Tip: If you are having trouble downloading the pattern and instructions then please ensure that you have Adobe Reader installed and that you have updated your Adobe Reader. It is free to both download the reader and to update it, just click the link to visit the Adobe site.
As I am rather addicted to Eucalan products myself , I go through bottles of Eucalan on a regular basis (I use the No Rinse Delicate Wash for crafts as well as washing all my delicates and I never go anywhere without Eucalan's Stain Treating Towelettes). With all those beautifully shaped empty bottles around I can't resist creating projects from the packaging; including my Eucalan bottle doll tutorial called A Delicate Disposition. Click the link to see that free tutorial and pattern and to read my top 5 uses for Eucalan.
Please feel free to link to my free projects, however, as a courtesy, if you wish to link to this project, please link to this page and not directly to the downloadable PDF file. Please do not save the PDF file and upload it to your own blog. Thank you!
They go by so many names: bunting, banners, pennants, garlands, but whatever you want to call them they are great for celebrations of all sorts. Bunting will be particularly popular for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations coming up, but I say use any excuse to break out the banners.

Suzanne of Just Another Hangup used a similar principle to make a Kindle case decorated with bunting. Click the link to see how Suzanne changed up the measurements to make the Kindle case version.
Here's hoping you string out the fun with these bunting tutorials no matter what you are celebrating.
Today I am guest blogging at Whip Up. Kathreen, who writes the blog Whip Up, has asked creative types, including me, to write about their creative process for her special guest blogger series.
I've been really enjoying reading about other people's creative journeys as part of this series. I hope you'll enjoy reading about mine. Click the link to read about My 4 Essential Creative Truths.
I'd really be interested to know - do any of my creative truths ring true with you? What are your creative truths? I hope I'm not the only one who gets creative while wearing one shoe or in the shower. Having said that, I just found this quotation which suggests that I'm not alone in how my creative epiphanies dawn:
“Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off and does something about it who makes a difference.” — Nolan Bushnell
