I don't know how it happened exactly, but somewhere along the line I ended up with very boring, very beige, very manufactured sofa cushions.
But the good news is that I was invited to guest post at Whip Up and that gave me the perfect reason to turn those pillows from something"blah" into something "mahvellous dahling".
It also gave me the opportunity to offer you, not one, but two free tutorials at the same time. So instead of my regular Freebie Friday round-up of free tutorials that I scout out for you on the web, I'm providing you with two original tutorials by moi.
And you know what else is mahvellous dahling? Both tutorials give you a cheater method to draw the silhouettes of your family members to make these cushy cushions very personal with no drawing skills needed!
For this romantic silhouette pillow I traced silhouettes from one of our wedding photos and the remaining two from a trip we took to Venice- just to make my pillow a little on the romantic side. I know, I'm soft and squishy inside, just like a pillow. But then so is my hubby who gave me that gorgeous bouquet in the background, just because he said they were as pretty as me. Ahhhhh... There's something to be said for things that make you go all soft and squishy.
To learn how to turn your very own silhouettes into a pillow download the instructions here. Download Romantic Silhouette Pillows Instructions
If you are having problems downloading these instructions, try updating your Adobe Reader.
If you want to complete your matching set of personalised pillows, follow the link to visit Whip Up where my High Profile Pillow Tutorial is available as a special guest post.
PS You can use either plain old straight stitching OR free motion machine embroidery for both the Romantic Silhouette Pillows and the High Profile Pillows. If you've never used free motion machine embroidery before, revisit one of my other free tutorials for the Kitchen Cliche Hot Pads to find out exactly how to free motion with abandon.

Wow! The new pillows look GREAT!
