It's official - I've had to turn on my heat and break out the woolly socks. The cold is on its way. Personally, I've always loved the cold as it's an excuse to bundle up and get cosy. What better way to celebrate the cold than with some adorable penguin crafts. Check out some of these cute tuxedo-ed little dudes that you can craft.
Some of my favourite penguin crafts have come from the Styrofoam brand website, check them out:
Two Cute Penguins - check out the teeny tiny penguin in the other penguin's arms, or should that be flipper?
Use Styrofoam eggs to make this very determined looking ski-ing penguin, covered in felt and fleece. Even if you don't have time to make this little guy, follow the link and read the tip in step 1 about cutting through Styrofoam. How ingenious is that? I'm going to try that.
Make another ski-ing penguin as an ornament for your tree with Styrofoam.
This little penguin family made from Styrofoam balls is so simple that you could make it with children.
Check another this procession of penguins with another Styrofoam penguin family .
I don't know what it is about penguins and family values (maybe it's that daddy penguins cradle their eggs through the whole harsh Antarctic winter, with no food that makes them a celebrated family figure), but check out this family of penguins huddled on a sled.
My favourite penguin project from the Styrofoam site is this pair of fishing penguins made in fleece.
Deck the Balls for Christmas with this adorable penguin ornament made from Christmas balls from Disney Family Fun.
This needle-felted penguin tutorial from Props Girl is very high on the cute-o-metre!
This needle felted penguin tutorial from Martha Stewart is a bit more true to reality but still cute.
Craft pine-cone penguins with Martha Stewart and then create a snow scene to display them in.
Craft another penguin winter scene this time using clay pots, courtesy of Michael's crafts.
You can also use clay pots to make this little penguin, also from the Michael's site.
Michael's shows you how to make this little penguin ornament.
I'm not big into crochet or amigurumi myself, but this little amigurumi penguin from Lion Brand is just too wee and adorable.
If you just love the little black and white waddlers and need some more penguin action, the book Crafting Christmas Gifts by Tone Finnanger has got some fabulous simple penguin softies, applique designs, card ideas and painted penguins. Not to mention the angel dolls, mouse softies and various fun snowmen. Definitely one of my favourite Christmas craft books.

Cute stuff. Thanks for sharing. Man, we've had our heat on here for a while! Fortunately it's been so warm the past couple of weeks, it hasn't kicked on too much. :-)
